Since I created G a Peppa Pig book featuring himself, I felt L needed a personalized book that he could treasure. I was happy to stumble upon the opportunity from UK-based Wondrous Ink to do just that.

I received my book within the 15-20 day time frame as promised. It arrived in an awesome red cardboard envelope. I got giddy seeing the “Royal Mail” postage stamp. For me, getting mail from overseas always meant something unique and not usually seen here in the States.

And unique is exactly how I’d describe this book. Your child finds themselves on an adventure as they try to figure out what makes them “wonderous.” Each letter of your child’s name represents a quality that teaches them why they are unique among all the other boys and girls of the world. I love how this also means that L’s book won’t be exactly the same as another child’s unless they share the same name.

After reading the book for the fifth time, I realized that each character your child meets on their adventure also represents the letters of your child’s name. In L’s book, he met a lion, an iguana, an astronaut, and mice.

Tidbits about the Wondrous World book and ordering:

  • Wondrous World is paperback and printed on thick, sturdy paper
  • Made for ages 2-8; however they’d make a great baby gift. I know L won’t be old enough to truly enjoy this book for a while, but I love the fact that he’ll have it for when he’s ready
  • You can include a special message to the child which is printed on the inside of the cover
  • Wondrous Ink delivers all over the world. I’d order now if you wanted to make sure you receive it in time for Christmas. As of 11-13-14 the estimated arrival date for Virginia, USA was 12/1/14
  • Free shipping to Europe and most major cities of the world

The more I browsed their website and about the people behind the book, the premise for the book, and how the book was created, the more I fell in love with Wondrous Ink. In order to give my US readers an idea on how much a book would be for them, I went ahead and ordered a book for G for Christmas:

The books are £19.99. According to my online shopping cart, Wondrous Ink didn’t charge me a shipping fee. My only issue about the check-out process was that the website didn’t convert pound sterling to American dollars. (To be honest, I don’t know if this is normal; this was my first time ordering something from an overseas website.) I had to look at my card’s statement to see how much the book cost in American dollars after I bought it. My total was $32.51, which I’m assuming included my card’s 2% Non-US Currency Transaction Fee.

I think it will be worth it though, and I can’t wait to see what characters G will encounter in his own personalized Wondrous World book!

  1. I love when you do reviews. You always give me great ideas. Our girls are only getting one xmas gift each this year and now those have been decided. Lids is getting a boardgame… and Esme is getting one of these books, which I just ordered! 🙂 Thanks for sharing!!

    1. Yay! I’m glad you them helpful 🙂 I like the idea of one gift each. I’m trying not to go overboard. I’m actually taking one thing back to the store later this week because I know I’m going to get mad at all the clutter it will cause 😉
