30 Days of Lists: September 2015 {Days 1-5}

I started off really, really well with 30 Days of Lists, a list challenge I signed up for back in September. It was pretty easy because L was still taking naps twice a day and I could convince G to draw or make a craft during the morning nap while I made a list from the day’s prompt.

But then school started and L started transitioning from two naps to one. What was once quiet/creative time was now spent trying to keep an obviously tired 19 month old busy until afternoon nap time. I got to day 19 and the priority of #30Lists shifted downwards. I’m still working on completing this challenge.

Even though I’m not done, I find myself wanting to join the 30 Days of Lists December list challenge. I loved seeing the different ways people listed on Instagram and our private Facebook group. Some wrote directly in their day planners, others used phone apps like WordSwag or Typorama. It didn’t have to be done in a notebook or a special scrapbook.

I did buy a little notebook for my lists. I wanted to be ambitious in making my lists pretty (stickers, cut outs, fun stuff like that), but that never happened. So I stuck with Sharpies, Crayola markers and a few stickers. I even used watercolor a few times.

The days I did list, I found myself trying to doodle a bit more. It made me realize I miss my creative side very much. I think that’s why I want to sign up for the December challenge. If I start out strong (as I tend to in long-term challenges) then doodling/creating will be good for me when the stress of the holidays start up for me.

You may have seen a few of my lists on Instagram, but I think I promised to share them here too. Here’s Day 1-5:

November Goals

I guess it would have been more fitting to share my November Goals on day 1 or 2 instead of the 11th, huh? Well, all I’ve wanted to do today was nap and it was extremely tempting to crawl into bed and veg out in front of the TV, but I couldn’t do that because NaBloPoMo and I haven’t missed a day yet and all that fine stuff. So here’s my list of November goals:

November Goals MuddyBootsandDiamonds.com

* Finish my latest makeover project: the chest I insisted Mr Boots buy on our anniversary last year.

* Write a blog post about said chest make over.

*Clean the dining room to make room for a China hutch

* Email my MiL a list of gift ideas for myself.

* Pick a dress for Mr Boots’ company party. I ordered three from ThredUp, an online consignment shop. I have no idea what size I am/need, hence three dresses. I saved at least 60% on each item so getting an extra 40% off was icing on the cake for me. One of my dresses is even new with tags!

* Start a draft post about said dresses. I’ve enjoyed my ThredUp experience so far, so I’m hoping that I love a dress and have little problems returning what doesn’t work (you have 14 days to return unwanted items).

* Run (most of) the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day. I’m excited to be doing this; I’ve wanted to run a Turkey Trot for a couple years now. I’ve signed G up for the Turkey 1/2 Mile, but he’s not being clear on whether or not he wants to run/walk with me (I’d use it as a warm up).

* Order Christmas cards. I was going to use Tiny Prints because I loved how ours turned out last year, but I’m considering trying out another company to see how their quality is. Either way, I’m hoping to order our 2015 family ornament through Tiny Prints. I loved the one I ordered last year.

* Successfully complete NaBloPoMo.

What do you want to accomplish this November? Have you already accomplished any November goals?

Lists: #TheTue10 and #30Lists

Happy September! I’ve got two lists to talk about today 🙂

The Tuesday 10First up, The Tuesday 10 via Feeisms.

This week’s Tuesday 10 prompt is: What would I do with $100?

I had to laugh as this is actually very fitting. Mr Boots handed me $100 in scrap money last weekend. He told me to spend it however I wanted (massage, get my nails done) because it would probably be a while before I could do anything like that.

I thought long and hard about what to do with that $100. You know what? It doesn’t take much for me to make $100 disappear.

I’ve spent about $90 on of it, and here’s what I bought:

  1. These earrings, because I LOVE the pair I have in my second ear holes and I need some for the first.
  2. Sesame Street: Old School Volume 2 as a Christmas present for the boys. We have Volume 1 and love it, so I can’t wait to see this one.
  3. Insurgent (Helloooo Four!)
  4. Kid-size rakes and broom for the boys to “help” in the yard once the leaves start falling
  5. Mats for the photographs I’m entering in the State Fair photography contest
  6. Some craft supplies for G
  7. A notebook for my 30 Days of Lists challenge
  8. Breakfast at McDonald’s
  9. Lunch at the mall
  10. A carousel ride for the boys

I looked into things like curtains, curtain rods, comforter sets because these are things we could use. But what I like would end up costing me more than $100. I didn’t want to spend it all in one place 😉

30 days of lists

Next is something new I’m trying. I came across 30 Days of Lists earlier this year when I was on Pinterest looking at journaling ideas.

I love lists and thought this would be something fun to do so I splurged, spent the $10 to officially participate (this includes blog access, a private Facebook group, and some printables and discounts to make your own fancy lists!). There is a prompt for each day of the month and you can make your list however you want: on a post-it, digitally, in a journal, whatever!

I’m jealous of the listers who have pretty booklets for theirs. I have everything I need to make a petty book like them, I just lack time and, mostly, energy at the moment.

So when I want tot the craft store I went down the drawing pad aisle and found this little notebook. I decided it would be perfect to write my lists. I could doodle and add stickers if/when I felt like it.

I hope to post a round up of my lists at the end of the month, but in the mean time you can follow along on my Instagram page and by searching #30lists.

Summer Bucket List 2016

In trying to stay on top of my screening of Dark Side of the Full Moon (which happened!) and my Climb Out of the Darkness fundraiser, most of my life has been dictated by lists lately. Some of these lists are on paper. Some of these lists are on my Todoist app (which is AMAZING by the way!).

I checked my email this morning and one of the writing prompts for the SITS Girls’ Stop the Summer Slump Writing Challenge was to create your summer bucket list.

There are things I want to do this summer. I’m not sure how much of it will happen due to Mr. Boot’s work schedule, but there are a few things I really hope we can make happen.

Go to the Beach
How original of me, right? Well, it’s been a while. Whether it’s with my family or with a friend, I want to make a trip to the beach this year. A real beach. Not my MiL’s lake beach.

Diva Dinner date
I haven’t seen my DivaFit friends in several months and I’m missing them. Most likely I’ll have to get the ball rolling on that one, which is hard since I don’t know when Mr. Boots might have to work.

Go see The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
I have no idea what this is really about. I saw the trailer when I went to see the second Divergent movie. I saw Henry Cavill and, well, who the hell cares what the movie is about?!

2 dates with Mr Boots
With him working so much and me feeling like I need to be in a bunch of places at once, Mr. Boots and I haven’t really had much alone time. I want to fix that starting next month.

1 kid free weekend with Mr Boots
I’m ready! I’m ready to send my boys off to Granma’s for a weekend. So. Ready.

Paint Downstairs Bathroom
I bought paint and a new light over Memorial Day weekend. I just need the kids out of my hair and I can get this done!

Start C25K
At the beginning of the year, I registered for my first 5K. “I have time,” is what I have been telling myself when it comes to training. It’s dawned on me that I’m running out of time. If I’m going to complete the C25K challenge, I need to start next month.

Host a Cook Out
Every time I try and host one, I fail. Usually, people bail last minute. I’m stubborn though. I want a chance to hang out with my friends and NOT be the one commuting to do so.

That’s pretty much it. I would like to go to the zoo and the aquarium, but I don’t see those things happening until the fall. I definitely don’t want to go to the zoo when the heat index is 110.

What do you hope to accomplish this summer? Do you have any big plans?
