I’m a sucker for personalized gifts. I think it’s because it was so hard to find my name on things growing up. (It’s soo not a problem since Ross and Rachel had their baby though…) Some of my favorite things have my name or personal message engraved or painted on them.
Over the years, my boys have received a few gifts with their names on them: puzzles, chairs, and books. It never clicked with me how personalizing things could be beneficial for them until recently. By putting their names on the stuff they use frequently, they’re learning to recognize their name by sight. As they get older, they learn the individual letters of their names.
I’m a huge fan of personalized children’s books. My boys have a few, and they get so excited when the character has the same name as them, which means they’re excited to sit down and be read to (or in the case of L, at least willing!)
Reading with my kids has always been very important to me. By putting my kids in the story I’m not only creating a keepsake for them but creating a way to get them excited about reading as well.
If you’re looking for a unique gift for a baby shower, birthday, special occasion or holiday, a personalized book is a fun way to go. I’ve put together a list of companies you can buy personalized children’s books from.

We love our Wondrous Ink books! Your child meets a variety of characters based on the letters of their name as they figure out what makes them unique. These are published in the U.K. but ship worldwide. If you need this book by a certain date I highly recommend ordering it several weeks in advance, especially at Christmastime. I have heard they can get backlogged during the holiday season.
I can also help you save some money 😉 Use my referral code and save 15% on your Wondrous Ink order!
I See Me is unique in that you can personalize some of their books with not only your child’s name, but a photo of their face. I am in love with their personalized coloring book line and have my eye on the 1-2-3 Blast Off With Me coloring book, which also allows children to trace numbers and letters.
Penwizard ($19.95 and Up)
If your kids love Peppa Pig, Paw Patrol, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Spongebob, or Dora the Explorer then they’ll love a book from Penwizard. Penwizard also has their own line of stories, featuring wizards, dinosaurs, and princesses. Some books are customizable with names, but the Peppa Pig books allow you to customize characters, which I have way too much fun with. You can read my review of G’s personalized Peppa Pig book here.
These books are available in the US, UK, and Australia and free shipping with minimum purchase (for the US it’s $55). I highly suggest ordering at least 4 weeks prior to needing it to give yourself some cushion. More at Christmas.
Mabel’s Labels ($24.95)
I highly recommend their labels, but you can also order personalized books through Mabel’s Labels! The ones they offer are the same Ninja Turtle, Paw Patrol, and Christmas Adventure as Penwizard, though I’m not sure if they’re soft or hardcover. These ship from the book supplier to the US and Canada only and, as with all their products, include free shipping which takes about 10 days.
Wonderbly ($24.99 and Up)
You probably know this company from their best-selling Lost My Name series, which is similar to the Wondrous Ink books. They rebranded in 2017 and added several more books to their collection. I love the illustrations in their books.
Wonderbly books are available worldwide. They can take up to 14 days to be delivered depending on where you are in the US.
