I haven’t felt motivated to write anything in a few months. Some of it has been due to holidays. Some of it has been the fact that my kids have been home way too much due to “snow” storms.
Lists are easy; I’m constantly writing them. So I’ll ease myself back into the blogging world with one.
Have you gotten tired of reading everyone’s 2018 goal lists? I hope not, because today I’m sharing the goals I’m striving for in 2018. Better late than never, I guess?
Run three races. I got a FitBit for Christmas! It’s already motivating me to move more and I know that will mean getting out for walks and runs as the weather gets warmer. I haven’t decided which races I want to participate in, but I’m hoping I’ll be a little faster than the ones I ran last year.
Put $1,000 into savings. What I haven’t told many people is that I got a (very) part-time job a few months ago. The bulk of my earnings will be going into my savings account this year.
Get a physical. I’m pretty sure this has been on my last two goal posts. I did well last year with getting to the dentist and the dermatologist. But now I need to get back into the habit of yearly physicals.
Read. I signed up to do the Goodreads Reading Challenge. My goal is 6 books. Which to me sounds good but apparently my friends have found more time to read because they’re aiming for 100.
Complete a round of my Beachbody PiYo workout DVDs. We’re taking a big family vacation this year and I’d like to not be bursting out of my bathing suit at the beach. I haven’t been able to take the PiYo class at my fitness studio, so I’m going to try and motivate myself to do this at home.
Complete a one month No Eating Out Challenge. We’ve cut back a tiny bit here, but I know we could be way better. The tricky part will be getting Mr Boots on board with this idea.
Journal at least once a week. I got a Recollections planner to use as a daily journal. I loved flipping through my 2017 journal and wished I had been better about keeping up with it.
Drink more water. Coffee has become my lifeline and I know it’s part of the reason why I feel like crap lately. It
Crochet something. I don’t know why I want to learn how to do this, but I got it into my head in December it would be fun and bought a hook and yarn. Be on the lookout for a potholder, because I’m not sure I’ll be able to do anything much more than that!
Meet with a financial advisor. I know I won’t like what they’ll have to say One. Single Bit. I hate where were are financially and I’d rather not have someone else point out our obvious flaws. But I think we’ve reached a point where we need some advice on how to better invest Mr Boots’ 401K money and look into college savings plans for the boys.
Create a will/living will. I don’t like thinking about “what ifs” but they’re a daily occurrence in my head. There’s really just one big decision I’ve been trying to make my mind up on and I’ll be ready.
Take more day trips. The zoo and B&O Railroad Museum are two places I hope to visit this year. I’d also really like to take the boys to Jamestown.
Paint bathroom shelves. This is the very last thing on my half-bath to-do list.
Create a frame mural in the dining room. I have frames. I have photographs. I have an idea. I just need to get everything hung!
Start reaching out to brands for collaborations. I have a list of companies I’d love to work with written down in my planner.
Get a freelance contract. I just cannot get myself to start cold-pitching brands until I have something that officially outlines who has rights to my work and when I expect to be paid.
Get a subscriber list started — with an opt-in. So many bloggers are freaking out over Facebook’s latest algorithm announcement and, for me, it really drove home the “emails are gold” saying bigger bloggers have been saying for years. Last year I took steps to get a virtual mailbox, so this will be the year I get The Email List started AND offer an opt-in.
Post at least 3x a month. I’m really feeling like I’m on the struggle bus with this one. I’m hoping that once my kids are back in school for more than once day a week I’ll get into a good blogging groove. I’m also hoping that my Surviving the Darkness series will help.
