Disclaimer: This is a book review for a personalized Peppa Pig book from Penwizard. I received a complimentary copy of a book of my choosing for this review. All opinions are my own.
Peppa Pig is huge in my house. I’ve mentioned here before that both boys love the show. Even I adore it! So when I saw an opportunity to work with the publisher, Penwizard, regarding their personalized Peppa Pig books, I jumped on it. I can’t begin to tell you how giddy I was when they asked me to do a book review!
I had seen these books on Pinterest; however, they were only being published in the UK. Now Penwizard has recently launched their books in the US and are now printing and shipping directly from US printers.
Right now you can create a book with several themes: Christmas, Swimming, First day of school (playgroup, nursery, or preschool). The books are currently paperback only, though Penwizard has recently introduced hardcover versions in the UK. I’m hoping they’ll do the same in the US soon!
Since G was set to start preschool in a few weeks, I decided to make a First Day of Preschool book for him. I had fun playing around with the different options for creating your character before settling on the features that most resembled G. There is also an option for a personalized message to your child.
I created my book on 8/21/14. The website stated that my book should ship on 8/28. Website stated my book would arrive 3-6 working days after it shipped. By my calculations, I should receive the book by G’s first day of school. I didn’t receive my book until 9/13, though my shipping confirmation stated I’d receive it the 16th.
I was disappointed I didn’t have the book in time for G’s first day of school, but since it wasn’t a gift I needed for someone else it wasn’t a big deal to me. I’m thinking about ordering a book each for the boys for Christmas, so I’ll probably allow several weeks to ensure they arrive in time. I did email Penwizard about my order they were quick to respond.
Shipping issue aside, the book is awesome! G could hardly contain his excitement when I told him the package on our doorstep was for him. The first character he noticed was Suzie Sheep and he said “Suzie!” I’d never heard him say that before.
Immediately he wanted to cuddle and read his new book. I was excited too, so we sat on the couch and I began reading to G. He loved that he was in the book as well.
The story is very similar to the episode about Emily Elephant’s first day of school. Your child replaces Emily’s character. I found myself hearing Madame Gazelle’s voice in my head as I read her parts, and I tried to imitate her “oh oh” when she is amused by the children she teaches at play group. I was also neighing, baa-ing, and snorting through the whole book too.
If your kids are in to Peppa Pig, I’m sure they’ll get a kick out of being a character in these books. You can order them online here:
